Uniform central limit theorems by
R. M Dudley(
Book
)
45 editions published between 1999 and 2014 in English and Undetermined and held by 489 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This classic work on empirical processes has been considerably expanded and revised from the original edition. When samples become large, the probability laws of large numbers and central limit theorems are guaranteed to hold uniformly over wide domains. The author, an acknowledged expert, gives a thorough treatment of the subject. This new edition contains several proved theorems not included in the first edition, including the BretagnolleMassart theorem giving constants in the KomlosMajorTusnady rate of convergence for the classical empirical process, Massart's form of the DvoretzkyKieferWolfowitz inequality with precise constant, Talagrand's generic chaining approach to boundedness of Gaussian processes, a characterization of uniform GlivenkoCantelli classes of functions, Gine; and Zinn's characterization of uniform Donsker classes (i.e., classing Donsker uniformly over all probability measures P), and the BousquetKoltchinskiiPanchenko theorem that the convex hull of a uniform Donsker class is uniform Donsker. The book will be an essential reference for mathematicians working in infinitedimensional central limit theorems, mathematical statisticians, and computer scientists working in computer learning theory. Problems are included at the end of each chapter so the book can also be used as an advanced text"

Differentiability of six operators on nonsmooth functions and pvariation by
R. M Dudley(
Book
)
23 editions published in 1999 in English and German and held by 354 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The book is about differentiability of six operators on functions or pairs of functions: composition (f of g), integration (of f dg), multiplication and convolution of two functions, both varying, and the product integral and inverse operators for one function. The operators are differentiable with respect to pvariation norms with optimal remainder bounds. Thus the functions as arguments of the operators can be nonsmooth, possibly discontinuous, but four of the six operators turn out to be analytic (holomorphic) for some pvariation norms. The reader will need to know basic real analysis, including Riemann and Lebesgue integration. The book is intended for analysts, statisticians and probabilists. Analysts and statisticians have each studied the differentiability of some of the operators from different viewpoints, and this volume seeks to unify and expand their results

Lectures in modern analysis and applications by
C. T Taam(
Book
)
22 editions published between 1969 and 2008 in English and Undetermined and held by 112 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
A Lecture Series in Modern Analysis and Applications was sponsored by the Consortium of American, Catholic, Georgetown, George Washington and Howard Universities, of the District of Columbia, the University of Maryland, College Park, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, in the greater Washington, D.C. area, during the period Fall, 1967 through Spring 1969. The series consisted of 8 sessions of 3 lectures each. Each session was devoted to an active basic area of contemporary analysis which is important in application or shows potential applications. Each lecture presented a survey and a critical review of certain aspects of that area, with emphasis on new results, open problems and applications. This volume, the third and final one of the series, contains five lectures from the seventh and eighth sessions, which were devoted to modern harmonic analysis and applications, and integration in function spaces and applications. The lectures concern the LittlewoodPaley Theory, the Theory of Automorphic Forms, Quantization and Unitary Representations, Random Linear Functionals, and the Absolute Continuity of Stochastic Processes. Concrete functional calculus by
R. M Dudley(
Book
)
17 editions published between 2010 and 2012 in English and held by 97 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Concrete Functional Calculus focuses primarily on differentiability of some nonlinear operators on functions or pairs of functions. This includes composition of two functions, and the product integral, taking a matrix or operatorvalued coefficient function into a solution of a system of linear differential equations with the given coefficients. In this book existence and uniqueness of solutions are proved under suitable assumptions for nonlinear integral equations with respect to possibly discontinuous functions having unbounded variation. Key features and topics: Extensive usage of pvariat

9 editions published in 2010 in English and Undetermined and held by 36 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
For almost fifty years, Richard M. Dudley has been extremely influential in the development of several areas of Probability. His work on Gaussian processes led to the understanding of the basic fact that their sample boundedness and continuity should be characterized in terms of proper measures of complexity of their parameter spaces equipped with the intrinsic covariance metric. His sufficient condition for sample continuity in terms of metric entropy is widely used and was proved by X. Fernique to be necessary for stationary Gaussian processes, whereas its more subtle versions (majorizing me
