This collection consists of photographs of Elisha P. Ferry, former Territorial Governor and first elected Governor of Washington State. Three of the photographs are framed portraits. The photographs are the same portrait with different size photos and different frames. The larger photograph is a framed black and white portrait photograph of Elisha P. Ferry. This photograph is 14.5 in. (19 cm.) x 11.25 in. (28 cm.) and is in a wooden black frame. The overall framed photograph size is about 21 in. (53 cm.) x 18 in. (45 cm.). The smaller photograph appears to be an enlargement of the photo and caption from a publication. The photo is the same portrait and a short biographical sketch as a caption under the photo. It is about 10 in. (25 cm.) x 7 in. (18 cm.). It is matted and in a frame that is about 18 in. (46 cm.) x 15 in. (38 cm.). The third portrait appears to be an original photograph of the same portrait. It is in a grey wooden frame with a white mat. The overall size of the grey framed photograph is 17 in. (43 cm.) x 14 in. (35 cm.). The photograph is about 7.5 in. (19 cm.) x 5.5 in. (14 cm.). The fourth photograph of the collection is not framed. It is a photograph of the inauguration of E. P. Ferry as the Governor of the State of Washington. It is mounted on a stiff paper board. The overall dimension of the mounted photograph is: 18 in. (45 cm.) x 22 cm. (55 cm.). The dimensions of the photograph are 9.5 in. (24 cm.) x 13 in. (32 cm.). It is inscribed on the back of the photo: "Inauguration of Gov. Elisha P. Ferry. Nov. 1889. Photographed by Mr. A.D. Rogers, Olympia, and only two copies were ever printed from the negative which is now (1916) destroyed. J.M. Hitt, State Librarian. March 1916. Site of present insurance building near legislative bldg."
