Modular forms and special cycles on Shimura curves by Stephen S Kudla( Book )

10 editions published in 2006 in English and held by 304 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Modular Forms and Special Cycles on Shimura Curves is a thorough study of the generating functions constructed from special cycles, both divisors and zero-cycles, on the arithmetic surface "M" attached to a Shimura curve "M" over the field of rational numbers. These generating functions are shown to be the q-expansions of modular forms and Siegel modular forms of genus two respectively, valued in the Gillet-Soule arithmetic Chow groups of "M". The two types of generating functions are related via an arithmetic inner product formula. In addition, an analogue of the classical Siegel-Weil formula identifies the generating function for zero-cycles as the central derivative of a Siegel Eisenstein series. As an application, an arithmetic analogue of the Shimura-Waldspurger correspondence is constructed, carrying holomorphic cusp forms of weight 3/2 to classes in the Mordell-Weil group of "M". In certain cases, the nonvanishing of this correspondence is related to the central derivative of the standard L-function for a modular form of weight 2. These results depend on a novel mixture of modular forms and arithmetic geometry and should provide a paradigm for further investigations. The proofs involve a wide range of techniques, including arithmetic intersection theory, the arithmetic adjunction formula, representation densities of quadratic forms, deformation theory of p-divisible groups, p-adic uniformization, the Weil representation, the local and global theta correspondence, and the doubling integral representation of L-functions."--Publisher's website

Results of a survey of pupils and teachers regarding television by Patricia Joan Crawford( Book )

6 editions published between 1975 and 1976 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

To test the validity of hypotheses regarding television violence and social behavior of viewers, a survey was conducted of a large stratified sample of sixth grade and kindergarten pupils and of teachers. The student survey identified: (1) frequency with which pupils watch television; (2) parental control of television viewing; (3) family activities; (4) reasons for watching television; (5) degree of selectivity of programs; (6) student perception of televised violence; and (7) favorite programs. The survey of teachers identified: (1) the extent to which teachers used television in their classrooms; (2) teacher perceptions of violence on television; (3) teacher views on the impact of television violence; and (4) student behaviors which teachers identified as directly attributable to television violence. Sample questionnaires are included. (Emh)

2 editions published in 2004 in French and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The third (and the last) volume of the Proceedings of the p-adic semester at Institut Poincaré in 1997 contains two long articles. The first, by J.-M. Fontaine, treats several topics from the theory of p-adic Galois representations: Sen's theory of C-representations, its generalization to BdR -representations, sketch of the proof by Colmez and Fontaine of the fundamental conjecture weakly admissible implies admissible, some remarks on the period rings. The second article is the long-awaited paper of K. Kato, which concludes the proof of one of the most spectacular number theoretical results from the 1990's, namely "one half" of the Main Conjecture of Iwasawa Theory for classical modular forms and its applications to the p-adic conjecture of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer (and its generalizations)

Les réfugiés : parias ou citoyens by Michel Rapoport( Book )

1 edition published in 1998 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Period Spaces for "p"-divisible Groups (AM-141) by M Rapoport( )

1 edition published in 2016 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In this monograph p-adic period domains are associated to arbitrary reductive groups. Using the concept of rigid-analytic period maps the relation of p-adic period domains to moduli space of p-divisible groups is investigated. In addition, non-archimedean uniformization theorems for general Shimura varieties are established. The exposition includes background material on Grothendieck's "mysterious functor" (Fontaine theory), on moduli problems of p-divisible groups, on rigid analytic spaces, and on the theory of Shimura varieties, as well as an exposition of some aspects of Drinfelds' original construction. In addition, the material is illustrated throughout the book with numerous examples
