Canadian literature at the crossroads of language and culture : selected essays by Barbara Godard, 1987-2005 by Barbara Godard( Book )

9 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 139 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Canadian Literature at the Crossroads of Language and Culture is the first book to gather together essays by Barbara Godard, one of the leading and most prolific figures in the field of Canadian studies." "Much of the force of Godard's work comes from her meticulous and relentless attention to the networks that produce both the texts and events we study and the methods through which we read them. Whether she writes about feminist theory, orality and Native women writers, or the exigencies of the cultural field, she has been instrumental in interrogating the normative ways in which we think about Canadian culture. From the function of literature to the materiality of institutions and periodicals, from the theory and practice of translation to the interrelations between English- and French-Canadian literatures, her critical interventions have drastically reconceptualized our inherited understandings of Canadian culture as it relates to the world at large."--Jacket

Amantes by Nicole Brossard( Book )

4 editions published between 1986 and 1987 in English and held by 73 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Picture theory by Nicole Brossard( Book )

5 editions published between 1990 and 2006 in English and held by 45 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"A novel first published in French in 1982, 'Picture Theory' demonstrates Nicole Brossard's fiction théorique and her preoccupation with the difficulty of writing and reading woman. The title (taken from Wittgenstein) implies her reference to the hologram as a new pictorial model for woman; like the hologram which is intended to be read from an infinite number of changing conditions, Brossard's text abstracts the image of the feminine so that it can be read from all angles. Centred on four women, this novel of lesbian love moves from Curaçao to Montreal, from New York to Paris. Essentially, Picture Theory poses the question of what is a novel."--back cover
Don l'Orignal by Antonine Maillet( Book )

3 editions published in 2004 in English and held by 34 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
