With a real down-to-earth and neighborly conversational style, redheaded Arthur Godfrey kept listeners company every weekday morning from 1945 to 1972. Somewhere between a morning show and a variety show, Arthur Godfrey's broadcasts were filled with music, talk and a lot of fun. He rarely stuck to the show's script and was known for making fun of the commercials that he had to read on the air. Godfrey was joined on the program by the "Little Godfreys", a group of young, clean-cut singers and musicians. Despite his own claims that he had no talent whatsoever, Godfrey did play the banjo and the ukulele, and managed to keep audiences entertained for almost 30 years
