An historical perspective of yield surface investigations for metals by Michael J Michno ( Book )
3 editions published in 1972 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The survey reviews work dealing either directly or indirectly with initial and subsequent yield surfaces. Emphasis is placed primarily on experimental investigations. Features of the work surveyed which are discussed include motivation, discrepancies, attempts to overcome discrepancies, and the nature of further work needed. (Author)
Combined-stress fatigue strength of 76S-T61 aluminum alloy with superimposed mean stresses and corrections for yielding by William N Findley ( Book )
3 editions published in 1953 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Fatigue data for 76S-T61aluminum alloy are presented for several combinations of bending and torsion with both alternating and mean stresses. Special fatigue equipment for these tests is described. Correction ofr yielding was applied to the mean stresses in the bending and in the torsion fatigue tests

Short-time, biaxial creep of an aluminum alloy with abrupt changes of temperature and state of stress by Joseph John Blass ( Book )
4 editions published between 1969 and 1970 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Short-time, biaxial creep experiments of an aluminum alloy are described which involved abrupt changes in temperature and state of stress. Results are discussed in terms of a creep surface concept similar to the yield surface concept of time-independent plasticity. Evidence that the creep surface changes size, shape, and location in response to creep strain is discussed. The contribution of metallurgical and viscoelastic effects to the complexity of the mechanical behavior are also discussed. (Author)
Mechanical tests of macerated phenolic molding material by William N Findley ( Book )
1 edition published in 1943 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Results of mechanical tests of macerated phenolic molding material are reported. These tests were carried out in a room maintained at a constant temperature of 77 degrees F and relative humidity of 50 percent. The following tests were performed: Static tension, compression, torsion, and flexure tests; long-time creep tests at different stresses, tests for time to fracture under long-continued constant load, Izod and Charpy impact tests; bending fatigue tests at different ranges of stress; rotating-beam fatigue tests at different speeds of testing; rotating-beam fatigue tests of notched specimens; and torsion fatigue tests
Experiments to determine small offset yield surfaces for 304L stainless steel under combined tension and torsion by Michael J Michno ( Book )
3 editions published in 1972 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The highly strain-hardening nature of 304L stainless steel, coupled with hardening due to a stress-induced martensitic transformation, caused considerable difficulty in determination of yield curves by a multiple-probe small-offset technique. Small probes of added shearing stress appeared to cause considerably more accumulated strain-hardening damage to a yield curve than small probes of added tensile stress. When a portion of a yield curve could be defined it appeared to be convex, and the plastic strain increment vector was normal in agreement with the stability postulate. Some evidence to support corner formation on a yield curve due to the disturbance of probing is presented. The exact nature of corners is indeterminant. An extreme Bauschinger effect for surprisingly small prestrains was observed in both tension and torsion. (Author)
Effect of gas diffusion on creep behavior of polycarbonate by H Hojo ( Book )
2 editions published in 1972 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Biaxial tension-tension creep experiments were performed to study the effect of gas diffusion on creep behavior of polycarbonate. Experiments were conducted on a thin-walled tubular specimen by applying both gas pressure and axial tension at room temperature, and measuring axial strain and gas absorption. It was found that the creep deformation was highly affected by the solubility controlled gas, carbon dioxide. The absorption measurements showed that the gas absorption behavior was clearly affected by the creep deformation of the material. Also an anomalous diffusion type behavior appeared even in permanent gas-polymer systems under creep conditions. The modified superposition principle satisfactorily predicted the recovery following creep. The axial creep for the biaxial tension-tension experiments were also computed from data previously reported for creep under combined tension and torsion of a different sample of polycarbonate
