Elements of programming by Alexander A Stepanov( Book )
13 editions published between 2009 and 2010 in English and held by 248 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
A truly foundational book on the discipline of generic programming reveals how to write better software by mastering the development of abstract components. The authors show programmers how to use mathematics to compose reliable algorithms from components, and to design effective interfaces between algorithms and data structures
The Ada generic library : linear list processing packages by David R Musser( Book )
8 editions published in 1989 in English and held by 173 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The Ada Generic Library provides an extensive well-documented library of generic packages whose use can substantially increase software productivity and reliability. The construction of the library follows a new approach whose principles include the following: - Extensive use of generic algorithms, such as generic sort and merge. - Building up functionality in layers. - Obtaining high efficiency in spite of the layering through the use of Ada's inline compiler directive. This volume contains eight Ada packages, with over 170 subprograms for various linear data structures based on linked lists. Professional Ada programmers will find The Ada Generic Library an invaluable tool in building application programs or in further construction of generic libraries. For these users the source code can be obtained on diskettes. The volume will also be useful to those interested in programming methodology, software reusability, and software engineering
From mathematics to generic programming by Alexander A Stepanov( Book )
4 editions published in 2015 in English and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Intel threading building blocks : outfitting C++ for multi-core processor parallelism by James Reinders( Book )
1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 18 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Multi-core chips from Intel and AMD offer a dramatic boost in speed and responsiveness, and plenty of opportunities for multiprocessing on ordinary desktop computers. But they also present a challenge: More than ever, multithreading is a requirement for good performance. This guide explains how to maximize the benefits of these processors through a portable C++ library that works on Windows, Linux, Macintosh, and Unix systems. With it, you'll learn how to use Intel Threading Building Blocks (TBB) effectively for parallel programming -- without having to be a threading expert

The Standard Template Library by Alexander A Stepanov( Book )
3 editions published between 1994 and 1995 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: "The Standard Template Library provides a set of well structured generic C++ components that work together in a seamless way. It lays out the design of a comprehensive, extensible, generic software component library without sacrifice of runtime efficiency. This document describes the structure of the library, as well as the complete interfaces of the library components."
Algorithm-oriented generic software library development by Alexander A Stepanov( Book )
2 editions published between 1992 and 1993 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: ""We outline an approach to construction of software libraries in which generic algorithms (algorithmic abstractions) play a more central role than in conventional software library technology or in the object-oriented programming paradigm. Our approach is to consider algorithms first, decide what types and access operations they need for efficient execution and regard the types and operations as formal parameters that can be instantiated in many different ways, as long as the actual parameters satisfy the assumptions on which the correctness and efficiency of the algorithms are based. The means by which instantiation is carried out is language dependent; in the C++ examples in this paper we instantiate generic algorithms by constructing classes that define the needed types and access operations. By use of such compile-time techniques and careful attention to algorithmic issues, it is possible to construct software components of broad utility with no sacrifice of efficiency."
