Dr. Gail Peterson, assoc. prof. of psychology and Dr. Joe Quigley at CEN/SHARE at University of Minnesota discusses the question, do animals think and feel? Dr. Peterson discusses animal behavior in comparison to human consciousness. He says human behavior and animal behavior have much in common, since there are similar nervous system, but animals don't have same level of consciousness as humans do. He says we have to first understand clearly about human consciousness to understand animals in comparison to human consciousness. Certainly, animals respond in similar ways as humans to similar situations, but he concludes that animals don't have human intelligence and human consciousness
