Manju befriends Malati, the daughter of rich mill owner Seth Sewakram. The engineer Ratanlal, together with his brother Ramlal, works at Sewakram's mill where he meets Manju and falls in love. Ratanlal sets up a union while his brother Ramlal tries to break it under pressure from the boss. The major twist in the plot is that Manju is revealed to be the rich mill owner's daughter, whereupon she tries to burn down the mill. Ratanlal, who tries to stop her, is arrested and jailed for arson. He is set free when Malati reveals the truth. The movie ends with Ratanlal and Manju getting married

Dr. Arun lives with his brother, Madhu, father Judge Ramkrishan, and mother Kamla, in a palatial house. He decides to help the poor and the needy and in order to do this he re-locates to a small town, where he meets a young nurse named Sumati, and they both fall in love. Sumati lives with her mom, Laxmi, and has no father. When Kamla starts looking for a prospective bride for Arun, he informs her that he has given his heart to Sumati. Ramkrishan sends for Laxmi, who gladly accepts the invitation. After her meeting, Arun inquires about the results with his mom and dad, and is told to forget about Sumati and marry someone else. When Arun asks for a reason behind their refusal, they refuse to divulge any information. The question remains, why did his parents turn down Sumati's mom, and what exactly happened during that meeting with her?
