The villagers at first shun Shankar, but then decide that they have nothing to lose in fighting the machines and they help Shankar build a road that will take six miles off the route to the temple. Unfortunately, Shankar and his best friend Krishan have fallen out over a girl and Krishan seeks revenge

Sumati lives with her mom, Laxmi, and has no father. When Kamla starts looking for a prospective bride for Arun, he informs her that he has given his heart to Sumati. Ramkrishan sends for Laxmi, who gladly accepts the invitation. After her meeting, Arun inquires about the results with his mom and dad, and is told to forget about Sumati and marry someone else. When Arun asks for a reason behind their refusal, they refuse to divulge any information. The question remains, why did his parents turn down Sumati's mom, and what exactly happened during that meeting with her?

Manju befriends Malati, the daughter of rich millowner Seth Sewakram. The engineer Ratanlal, together with his brother Ramlal, works at Sewakram's mill where he meets Manju and falls in love. Ratanlal sets up a union while his brother Ramlal tries to break it under pressure from the boss. The major twist in the plot is that Manju is reavealed to be the rich millowner's daughter, whereupon she tries to burn down the mill. Ratanlal, who tries to stop her, is arrested and jailed for arson. He is set free when Malati reveals the truth. The movie ends with Ratanlal and Manju getting married
