The Haskell school of expression : learning functional programming through multimedia by Paul Hudak( Book )

23 editions published between 1999 and 2013 in English and Undetermined and held by 379 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This book teaches functional programming using Haskell, the most popular purely functional language. The emphasis is on functional programming as a way of thinking and problem solving, using Haskell as a vehicle for expressing solutions. Rather than using conventional examples from mathematics, which are commonly found in other programming language books, this tutorial uses examples drawn from multimedia applications, including graphics, animation, and computer music, thus rewarding the reader with working programs for inherently more interesting applications. The author also teaches how to reason about functional programs, using a very simple process of calculation."--Jacket
Practical aspects of declarative languages : 10th international symposium, PADL 2008, San Francisco, CA, USA, January 7-8, 2008 : proceedings by Paul Hudak( Book )

17 editions published between 2007 and 2008 in English and held by 109 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Symposium on Practical Aspects of Declarative Languages, PADL 2008, held in San Francisco, CA, USA, in January 2008, colocated with POPL 2008, the Symposium on Principles of Programming Languages. The 20 revised full papers presented together with the abstract of 1 invited talk were carefully reviewed and selected from 44 submissions. The papers address all current aspects of declarative programming and feature original work emphasizing novel applications and implementation techniques for all forms of declarative concepts

1 edition published in 1999 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Fast-track conference proceedings. State-of-the-art research. Up-to-date results. Edited in collaboration with FoLLI, the Association of Logic, Language and Information, this book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Logical Aspects of Computational Linguistics, LACL 2012, held in Nantes, France, in July 2012. The 15 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 24 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on logical foundation of syntactic formalisms, logics for semantics of lexical items, sentences, discourse and dialog, applications of these models to natural language processing, type theoretic, proof theoretic, model theoretic and other logically based formal methods for describing natural language syntax, semantics and pragmatics, as well as the implementation of natural language processing software relying on such methods -- Publisher's website

ParLance: a para-functional programming environment for parallel and distributed computing by Yale University( Book )

2 editions published in 1987 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This paper outlines the beginning of a collaborative research effort whose overall goal is the development of an effective parallel programming environment called ParLance, consisting of a para-functional language, highly-optimizing compiler, parallel evaluation kernel, and interactive support for parallel program development. ParLance is intended to be relatively machine independent, with implementations planned for both a shared memory (ENCORE MultiMax) and a distributed-memory (INTEL iPSC) multiprocessor. Other machines to be considered include the Connection Machine and the WARP at CMU
Documentation of the Tactical Vehicle Fleet Simulation Model. Volume II. Analyst/Programmer Manual. Part A: Narrative( Book )

2 editions published in 1977 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The Tactical Vehicle Fleet Simulation (TVFS) Model is a computerized stochastic representation of vehicle fleet operations. The model accepts descriptions of vehicles comprising a fleet as to capabilities and operational characteristics. Then, based on the generation of mission demands, it dispatches, loads, transits, unloads, returns, and maintains the vehicles over time. The model reports the overall utilization of the fleet and measures vehicle performance in terms of dispatch delays and in terms of the times required to complete requested missions. On a more generalized basis, the TVFS model can be described as a discrete event queueing and service model. It generates events, such as missions and maintenance actions, according to prescribed statistical distributions. It then keeps account of the time required to service each of these events with respect both to the type of event and to the type of server (i.e'., vehicle). Results are displayed in terms of explicit frequency distributions of the delay and service times, as well as comprehensive summary statistics
