Because of its symmetry and uniformity properties, the vertexset V(d) of a ddimensional cuboctahedron (the difference body of a regular dsimplex) is useful as an experimental design for the exploration of a response over a sperical region. This paper treats the problem of coordinatizing the containing space (or rotating the design) so as to minimize the number of levels at which the experimental variables are required to appear. Throughout the range of practical interest, 3level designs are found for all d=3 mod 4, 5level designs for all d=O or 1 mod 4, and 7level designs for all d=2 mod 4. (Author)
