Geomagnetism in marine geology by Victor Vacquier( Book )

25 editions published between 1972 and 1976 in 4 languages and held by 525 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book was compiled for informing investigators in other branches of oceanography who often rub elbows with the marine geologists and geophysicists on oceanographic ships. It might be useful to students of marine geology and geophysics as a guide to literature

Marine geophysics : a Navy symposium( Book )

1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This symposium, in honor of the 80th birthdays of Russell W. Raitt and Victor Vacquier and the 40th anniversary of the Marine Physical Laboratory of Scripps Institution of Oceanography, of the University of California San Diego was held on 16 October 1986 at SIO, La Jolla, California. Partial contents: Bibliographies of Russell W. Raitt and Victor Vacquier; Acoustic and seismic researches--ONR programs and efforts; Drifting acoustic sensors, Modeling multi-bounce phases in marine sediments, and Development of seismic- refraction techniques in the southern California borderland: Researchers in Magnetics, The source of marine magnetic anomalies; and Principles of operation and applications of RF-driven SQUID magnetometers in paleomagnetism and rock magnetism; Researches in tectonics--Heat flow off Sumatra, Marine heat flow and sea-floor tectonics, and Paleomagnetism of oriented drill core from the Alaskan North Slope
A celebration in honor of Russell Raitt and Victor Vacquier by Scripps Institution of Oceanography( )

1 edition published in 1992 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

J. Tuzo Wilson discussed his family history and his own education and the relationship of geophysics to geology and physics. Jean Francheteau spoke on Victor Vacquier's contributions to the problem of magnetic lineations and seamounts. Christopher G. Harrison discussed Victor Vacquier's early papers, magnetometer development and current interpretation of magnetics. John Sclater discussed Victor Vacquier's career at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and his work on heat flow. Fred Spiess was the concluding speaker, followed by remarks by Victor Vacquier
Marine technician's handbook by F Dixon( )

1 edition published in 1966 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The purpose of the Marine Technician's Handbook is to provide uniform instructions to technicians undertaking routine shipboard operations such as dredging, sampling carbon dioxide, echo sounding, collecting samples, taking net hauls, and taking bathythermograph observations. The handbook describes oceanographic instruments such as the proton magnetometer, sonar pinger, wire rope and winches, deep sea camera, and parachute drogue. Other Marine Technician Handbooks are located in the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Subject Files, 1903-1979

The Marine Physical Laboratory was established in 1946 as a successor of the University of California, Division of War Research (UCDWR). This accession includes some UCDWR records, but consists largely of MPL records dated 1946-1980 which were maintained as central laboratory files at MPL at Point Loma. The accession includes correspondence, memoranda, proposals, contracts, blueprints, sketches and photographs documenting the administration of MPL and research conducted by MPL scientists under federal contract. The accession includes material documenting MPL projects, including FLIP (Floating Instrument Platform), DIMUS, and Deep Tow. The accession includes correspondence and other files of MPL administrators and scientists Victor Anderson, Fred Noel Spiess, Harald Ulrik Sverdrup and Victor Vacquier
