Shirin Neshat : 2002-2005 by Shirin Neshat( Book )

3 editions published in 2005 in English and held by 205 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"In her profoundly beautiful films Shirin Neshat raises the most pressing converns and predicaments of humanity: the conflict between madness and civilization, freedom and constraint, order and change, inhibition and release, despair and rage. This book documents the visusal, philisophical, and moral complexity of her uncompromising artistic quest."--Back cover
Anish Kapoor : whiteout by Anish Kapoor( Book )

1 edition published in 2004 in English and held by 199 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The immediacy of Anish Kapoor's sculpture is often said to evoke the sublime. His signature use of vibrant color and organic forms combine to dominate, astonish, and redefine the relationship between object and viewer, sculpture and space. In the new body of work presented here, Kapoor introduces a previously unexplored range of materials and surfaces, furthering his already complex dialogue between form and void, the corporeal and the infinite. Using mirror-like polished steel, or white surfaces so intensely pure that they virtually defy the gaze, the artist has created works that are visceral, yet also evoke a rich array of philosophical underpinnings and resonances."--BOOK JACKET
Shirin Neshat : games of desire by Shirin Neshat( Book )

4 editions published in 2009 in English and held by 111 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Seducing with words, voices, gestures: these are the 'Games of Desire' presented in the film of courtship rituals made by Shirin Neshat at Luang Prabang (Lao PDR). Shirin Neshat came across them at the time of her first stay in Luang Prabang in 2005 and returned to film them in the autumn of 2008. In a very direct way they echo her concerns in the numerous works in which she has explored the boundaries between the sexes, the specificity of male and female territories and their distribution among public and private spaces. There is Shirin Neshat's eye and the keenness of her vision which, in this switching of the poitn of view on the joust, in this conciseness of the forms an dcentering on the faces, turn this oral tradition of another time into an art of presence."
