Rastus tries to retrieve the fowl in order to win the reward offered by the owner. Rastus barely saves the game cock from the descending axe. In the end there are so many claimants for the reward that the owner of the chicken refuses to pay anyone

They have a rope around Tom's neck when Bessie changes her mind. She persuades the men to leave his punishment to her, and she ends up with a new sweetheart after all

Two waiters, vain of their personal appearance, have their photographs taken by an itinerant photographer. The boss catches them and fires them. One of them hits on the scheme to get easy money by posing as a baron. He convinces the other renters in a boardinghouse of his aristocratic birth with pictures of his supposed family castle. He borrows money from them for his marriage license which he forgets at the wedding. When he races back to the boardinghouse for it, he discovers that they have uncovered his ruse and has to flee. He would have succeeded in marrying the heiress except for a mixup at the license bureau, giving him a dog's license instead of a marriage license
