Some new and efficient algorithms for portfolio analysis
by
JongShi Pang(
Book
)
3 editions published in 1977 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This paper first describes a modified version of the parametric principal pivoting algorithm for the class of parametric linear complementarity problems with Pmatrices. The modified version of the parametric principal pivoting algoritm is then used to develop a new and efficient algorithm to solve the class of portfolio analysis problems with positive definite (or equivalently, nonsingular) covariance matrices. Extension of the new algorithm to hanlde explicit upperbounds is also established. The new algorithm and its extension are then specialized to the index models. In these specializations, the algorithms are particularly effective, achieving dramatic savings in both storage and computations. (Author)

The extended linear complementarity problem
by
Olvi L Mangasarian(
Book
)
1 edition published in 1993 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: "We consider an extension of the horizontal linear complementarity problem, which we call the extended linear complementarity problem (XLCP). With the aid of a natural bilinear program, we establish various properties of this extended complementarity problem; these include the convexity of the bilinear objective function under a monotonicity assumption, the polyhedrality of the solution set of a monotone XLCP, and an error bound result for a nondegenerate XLCP. We also present a finite, sequential linear programming algorithm for solving the nonmonotone XLCP."

Nondegenerate solutions and related concepts in affine variational inequalities

M. C Ferris(
Book
)
1 edition published in 1994 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: "The notion of a strictly complementary solution for complementarity problems is extended to that of a nondegenerate solution of variational inequalities. Several equivalent formulations of nondegeneracy are given. In the affine case, an existence theorem for a nondegenerate solution is given in terms of several related concepts which are shown to be equivalent in this context. These include a weak sharp minimum, the minimum principle sufficiency, and error bounds. The gap function associated with the variational inequality plays a central role in this existence theorem."
