Acclaimed director Michael Haneke (Hidden, Funny Games) won the Palme d'Or at the 2009 Cannes FIlm Festival for what is considered to be an instant classic of world cinema. The White Ribbon is Haneke's masterpiece and a film that will be talked about for years to come."--Kanopy website

K. has status but no position, two dolts for assistants, the forlorn barmaid Frieda as a fiancée, and arguments with everyone. 56 editions published between 2002 and 2012 in 5 languages and held by 359 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"An extremely timely and prescient piece of social commentary, Time of the Wolf follows a family's difficult journey immediately after an unknown apocalyptic event. Haneke never tells us what happened, or where, or when, but instead puts us directly into the terrifying aftermath, with all of its confusion, uncertainty, and danger. As all social laws and codes are suddenly overturned, Heneke asks us to find our own way through. Time of the Wolf is Haneke's most intense film, and also his most hopeful."--Container

Benny's video by Michael Haneke( Visual )

70 editions published between 1992 and 2012 in 5 languages and held by 324 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The title character in Benny's Video is a twisted 13-year-old boy who sees the world as one big video, sometimes starring himself. His bedroom resembles a TV production studio, with a videotape library, monitors, and cameras, including one camera pointed out the window so he can watch a pixilated version of "the view" on TV. Another camera records Benny--he can watch himself watching himself--and a bank of buttons and remote controls allow him to instantly switch from the real-time cameras to television programs to videos. His parents are mostly absent, and not particularly interested in their kid, but they get very interested when they discover that their quiet child has done something unspeakably violent, for no apparent reason. "Why did you do it?" they ask, and the boy just says, 'Because.'"--Ken Dubois, Reel.com

"In this riveting study of the dynamics of control, Academy Award-winning director Michael Haneke takes on Nobel laureate Elfriede Jelinek's controversial 1983 novel about perverse female sexuality and the world of classical music ... Erika [is] a piano professor at a Viennese conservatory who lives with her mother in a claustrophobically codependent relationship. Severely repressed, she satisfies her masochistic urges only voyeuristically until she meets Walter, a student whose desire for Erika leads to a destructive infatuation that upsets the careful equilibrium of her life."--Container

4 editions published in 2015 in French and held by 62 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
