Consists of newspaper clippings, handwritten comments, and pen and ink wash illustrations that pertain to the history of balloons used as a means of transportation. The volume begins with clippings from 1783 and the last entry is dated 1866. It is likely that Diamond began compiling this volume in 1848. Several full page watercolor illustrations depict such scenes as a view of Mt. Lyons from a balloon, a balloon plunging into the sea with a sailing vessel in the background, a view of a fair in Hyde Park, and a view entitled "ascent from Dublin." Articles are on types of balloons, the use of parachutes, balloon accidents, and biographical sketches with portraits of ballooners. An oversize lithograph inscribed "Haenlein's Balloon Locomotive, London, England, May 1865," was acquired with the scrapbook. A. Buther was the lithographer
