Radio play #1 by Peter Handke( Recording )

1 edition published in 1988 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Handke is preoccupied with linguistic experimentation, and an exploration of the meaning of language itself. In this surreal drama, a young man is being interrogated by five questioners and a chief interrogator. As in Kafka's Trial, it is never clear what, if anything, the interrogators are trying to find out, whether the Questioned knows anything or not, or whether he is "innocent" or "guilty". The dialogue is punctuated throughout by conventional sound effects (the ocean, the wind, a horse whinny, a rattling chain, a bunch of keys) intended to call deliberate attention to the medium, and the radiophonic quality of the play itself
