"As This is your life opens, both Ralph Edwards and the stage he's about to enter look a bit different from the norm. Instead of a suit and tie, Ralph is dressed in a sport coat and aloha shirt. The set has been transformed into the beach at Waikiki, and the curtains are closed to hide the audience. The unsuspecting honoree, Olympic swimmer, surfer, actor and Sheriff of Honolulu, Duke Kahanamoku, is already on stage, ready to film a travelogue about Hawaii. Ralph appears, claiming that he, too, is doing a show in the studio; as he reveals the surprise, the audience applauds and the curtains part. Duke's many sisters and brothers, including David and Sam, fellow Olympic swimmers in 1924, are the first to join Duke on stage. The family's beautiful singing provides background music throughout the show. Some of the greatest names in the history of swimming are on board to honor their distinguished friend. Famous coach George 'Dad' Center swaps stories with several of Duke's Olympic teammates, all world record holders: Michael McDermott, Ludy Langer and Tarzan himself, Johnny Weissmuller, who broke Duke's own record in the 100-meter freestyle in 1924. Duke won three gold and two silver medals in swimming, but his greatest feat came after his Olympic career. He was surfing off Newport Beach, California in 1925, when a fishing boat capsized in 25-foot waves. Paddling through the turbulent sea on his surfboard, Duke heroically rescued 8 of the 12 survivors. Ralph reunites Duke with three of the men he saved that day; 32 years later, they welcome the opportunity to thank him again"--DVD sleeve
