Collection of Maronite liturgical manuscripts( )

1 edition published in 1863 in Arabic and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

A collection of Maronite Church liturgical manuscripts in Garshūnī (Arabic in Syriac script), Syriac and Arabic: 1. Kitāb al-Taqdīs ḥasba rutbat al-millah al-Mārūnīyah fī al-Kursī al-Rasūlī "Book of Celebration of the Mass according to the rite of the Maronite denomination in the Apostolic Sea" (folios 3a-38a), in elegant Garshūnī (Arabic in Syriac script) and Syriac in two columns which is the usual format for poetry. 2. Rutbat istiʻdād al-kāhin "Rite of preparation of the priest [for celebrating the Mass]" in Arabic and Syriac (folios 39a-43a). 3. Ṣalawāt al-shukr "Prayers of thanksgiving" (folios43a-46a) in Arabic. 4. Anājīl shahrīyah "Books of hours" in Arabic (folios 47a-56a). 5. Anājīl al-āḥād wa-al-aʻyād al-mashhūrah "Gospels of the famous Sundays and festivals" in Arabic (folios 56a-78b). Followed by seven hymns in Arabic (leaves 79a-85b) probably translated from Syriac poetry. The last one of these hymns is attributed to Mār Simʻān al-ʻĀmūdī (Saint Simeon Stylites, died 459). 6. Mayāmir "Homilies" in Arabic (folios 86b-123b) written by al-Muṭrān "Archbishop" ʻAbd Allāh ibn Mīkhāʼīl Qarāʼalī (1672-1742) who was born in Aleppo (Syria) and then became the Maronite archbishop of Beirut, Lebanon. Followed by a hymn (leaves 123a-124b) for the feast of the Maronite Patriarch/Saint Mārī Yuḥannā Mārūn (627-707) written by al-Khūrī Khayr Allāh Isṭifān al-Ghusṭānī (probably al-Khūrī Khayr Allāh Isṭifān who lived at the end of the 19th century, a priest and author, graduate of the famous Lebanese school "Marasat ʻAyn Warqah"). 7. Rasāʼil "Epistles" in Arabic (folios 125b-127a), these are seven in number, one for each day of the week. On folio 124b is mentioned that the manuscript was completed by the Priest Iqlīmūs al-Zaghrīnī al-Ḥalabī al-Lubnānī on 21 October, 1863. On folio 1a is written that the re-binding of the codex was requested by Father Yūsuf Maḥfūẓ al-Lubnānī on 4 November, 1931 and it was bought and owned by the Priest Buṭrus Shiḥadah from Shakkā, Lebanon. There were probably two or three different calligraphers for this codex
