Yellow stars, a concerto for orchestra in seven parts, composed by Isaak Shvart︠s︡, is performed against a background of film footage which presents images of the Holocaust as a visual analogue to the music. The footage is "from a variety of sources and locations, traveling in a rough chronological arc from book burning and shop boycotting ... to the liquidation of the Warsaw and Kovno ghettos. Kurz darauf wird Fjodor Pawlowitsch ermordet aufgefunden. - Epische Verfilmung des berühmten Romans von Fjodor Dostojewski, der ein breit gefächertes Panorama der Lebenseinstellungen im Russland der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts gibt. Regisseur Iwan Pyrjew hatte bereits zuvor Werke Dostojewskis wie "Weiße Nächte" und "Der Idiot" adaptiert. Seine werkgetreue Verfilmung des letzten Romans des Schriftstellers konnte er nicht mehr beenden, nach seinem Tod wurde sie von den Schauspielern Kirill Lawrow (Iwan) und Michail Uljanow (Dimitri) abgeschlossen
