Sonic eclipse A twilight's song ; She-cholat ahavah ani by Matthias Pintscher( )

8 editions published in 2011 in 3 languages and held by 225 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The main work here is the most recent - the triptych Sonic Eclipse, which Mathias Pintscher composed in 2009 and 2010 as independent movements for solo trumpet and ensemble and solo horn and ensemble, followed by a third piece that brings together the two soloists together in a kind of double concerto. Like everything Pintscher composes, the music shows remarkable fluency and confidence in manipulating its material while ticking all the right modernist boxes. [...] the 32-part a cappella setting of texts from the Song of Songs in She-cholat Ahavah Ani from 2008 is a virtuoso demonstration of vocal writing that buries any meaning in its svelte, tricksy surfaces. The much more modest A Twilight's Song, a setting for soprano and seven instruments of a poem by EE Cummings from 1997 [...] seems to me far more effective; the craftsmanship is just as immaculate, but it's put at the service of the music rather than put on show for its own sake" (Andrew Clements am 18.8.2011 in "The Guardian")
