"In 1903 ... Mr. Wetmore had a young relative, Ogden Codman, transform the southwest ground floor room ... it was known thereafter as the green parlor." (Ames) These drawings may have been completed at the same time but it is difficult to tell. Ames states that John Russell Pope, in 1914, "was commissioned to extend Hunt's revised west entrance to a strange square bay window ..." These drawings indicate that Codman at an unknown time also drew up plans for the west entranceway conversion. Cf. "Transformation of Château-Sur-Mer; Soc. Arch. Collection of documents purchased by George P. Wetmore in 1912 pertaining to commerce in Rhode Island, and Newport in particular, from 1706-1851. The collection contains tipped-in letters, bills of lading, accounts, receipts, and other shipping documents. Among the individuals represented heavily in the collection are Rhode Island merchants Abraham Redwood, Stephen Ayrault, Aaron and Abraham Lopez, and Christopher Champlin. Also included are the lists of documents sold to Wetmore at auction in 1912.
