The printed material in this collection is primarily newspaper clippings of editorials, columns, and letters McKee wrote for newspapers he edited as well as other papers to which he contributed. Major topics discussed are state politics, the penitentiary issue, Ala. fiscal activity, public education, and other current political topics. The clippings are from a variety of newspapers including the Southern Argus (Selma, Ala.), Montgomery (Ala.) Advertiser and Mail, The Daily Register (Mobile, Ala.), Sonoma (Calif.) Democrat, Montgomery Journal, and Morning Times (Selma). A near-complete run of the short lived Southern Argus (1899) is available on microfilm in the repository
