in German and held by 1 library worldwide An important part of Ludwig Schwanthaler's papers, this collection derives from the estate of the artist and his cousin Franz Xaver Schwanthaler and is especially strong in documenting Ludwig's life and work from 1838-1847. Both professional and personal in nature, the correspondence contains many references to major buildings in Munich as well as sculptures and monuments throughout Germany and Europe. Most notable among the correspondents are Ludwig I of Bavaria, Sulpiz Boisseree and Xaver Schwanthaler. The collection also includes family correspondence, six drawings by Schwanthaler, forty-eight photographs of sketches of his, personal papers, receipts, six poems by Schwanthaler and miscellaneous printed material.
