Documents the controversy surrounding Schlingensief's production of 'Container, chronicle of an art event' in conjunction with the Vienna Festival of June, 2000. As a political statement in response to the rise of the right-wing Freedom Party (FPÖ), organisers of the Festival had invited German activist, Schlingensief to stage the event. Inspired by the television programme, Big Brother, he dramatised the deportation of asylum seekers from Austria. He built a deportation camp, using a container, next to the Vienna Opera, in the busy Karajan Square. He had six cameras focussed on twelve asylum seekers for a week; and FPÖ election slogans on a giant banner posted outside. People would then vote for the asylum seeker they wanted deported, on everyday of the week. It was a dramatisation of the xenophobic country which Austria has become. Presents a profile of Christoph Maria Schlingensief. Includes comments on the art event by project manager, Claudia Kaloff, and other critics; reactions from the FPÖ, party to the Austrian coalition government of 2000; as well as, response from the Austrian public. Includes also selected archival footage of the post-World War II political landscape in Austria
