Gideon entgeht der Hinrichtung nur durch Ezelis Voodoo-Zauber und kann mit Ariel und seiner Tochter Miranda (Katherine Heigl) in die Sümpfe entkommen. Dort beginnt er mit seinen zwei Schützlingen ein Einsiedlerleben und unterwirft sich dank seiner Zauberkraft den wilden Caliban (John Pyper-Ferguson).
