Random matrix theory and wireless communications by Antonia M Tulino( Book )

13 editions published between 2004 and 2007 in English and held by 75 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

From its inception, random matrix theory has been heavily influenced by its applications in physics, statistics and engineering. The landmark contributions to the theory of random matrices of Wishart (1928) [311 ], Wigner (1955) [303 ], and Mar?Øcenko and Pastur (1967) [170 ] were motivated to a large extent by practical experimental problems. Nowadays, random matrices find applications in fields as diverse as the Riemann hypothesis, stochastic differential equations, condensed matter physics, statistical physics, chaotic systems, numerical linear algebra, neural networks, multivariate statistics, information theory, signal processing, and small-world networks. Despite the widespread applicability of the tools and results in random matrix theory, there is no tutorial reference that gives an accessible overview of the classical theory as well as the recent results, many of which have been obtained under the umbrella of free probability theory
Universal estimation of information measures for analog sources by Qing Wang( Book )

5 editions published in 2009 in English and held by 10 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This monograph presents an overview of universal estimation of information measures for continuous-alphabet sources. Special attention is given to the estimation of mutual information and divergence based on independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) data. Plug-in methods, partitioning-based algorithms, nearest-neighbor algorithms as well as other approaches are reviewed, with particular focus on consistency, speed of convergence and experimental performance
Proceedings of the 22nd Conference on Information Sciences and Systems, March 16, 17, 18, 1988 by Conference on Information Sciences and Systems( Book )

The interplay between information and estimation measures by Dongning Guo( Book )

4 editions published between 2012 and 2013 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This monograph surveys the interactions between information measures and estimation measures as well as their applications. The emphasis is on formulas that express the major information measures, such as entropy, mutual information and relative entropy in terms of the minimum mean square error achievable when estimating random variables contaminated by Gaussian noise. These relationships lead to wide applications ranging from a universal relationship in continuous time nonlinear filtering to optimal power allocation in communication systems, to the simplified proofs of important results in information theory such as the entropy power inequality and converses in multiuser information theory

A General Approach to Minimax Robust Filtering by Sergio Verdú( Book )

3 editions published between 1981 and 1982 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

General results systematizing the solution of minimax robust filtering problems are presented. Their application is investigated in the areas of matched filtering and of state estimation and control for linear time-varyng stochastic systems. Further minimax filtering situations are studied for other problems in signal detection and estimation
Multi-User Detection for Next-Generation CDMA( Book )

2 editions published in 2000 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The overall objective of this grant was to investigate basic research issues on signal processing for demodulation of multiuser digital wireless communication systems of interest to future U.S. Army terrestrial tactical needs. This study was motivated by the emergence over the past years of the field of multiuser detection from previous ARO-sponsored projects led by the principal investigators. A major goal of this project was to design and analyze detectors that could be used with long-sequence CDMA. This is the Direct-sequence method employed in several civilian and military spread spectrum systems. To that end, random spreading models are used to obtain succinct figures of merit based on congestion and bandwidth
A Comprehensive Approach to Fusion for Microsensor Networks: Distributed and Hierarchical Inference, Communication, and Adaption( )

1 edition published in 2000 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This final report summarizes the research and activities under the ODDR & E MURI on Data Fusion in Large Arrays of Microsensors. The report reviews the intellectual themes and research concentration areas of this program provides a listing of all personnel involved in the program and the infrastructure and website created; summarizes highlights of the impact our work has already had; lists many of the awards and recognition we have received; describes interactions with and transitions to DoD activities as well as the infrastructure we have put in place (including the program website which will continue into the future); and briefly summarizes the major research accomplishments we have had. The report closes with a complete listing of the very substantial list of publications that have resulted from research supported by this project
