Air quality in the Mexico megacity : an integrated assessment by Luisa T Molina( Book )

9 editions published in 2002 in English and held by 129 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In this book, experts in atmospheric sciences, human health, economics, social and political sciences contribute to an integrated assessment of the complex elements needed to structure air quality policy in the 21st century. The analysis is developed through a case study of the Mexico City Metropolitan Area - one of the world's largest megacities in which air pollution grew unchecked for decades. The international research team is led by Luisa T. and Mario J. Molina, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry. Improvements in Mexico City's air quality in the last decade testifies to the power of determined and enlightened policy making, and throws into relief the tough problems that remain to be solved. The volume's first six chapters, including the contributions of over 50 distinguished scholars from Mexico and the US, outline the fundamental areas of knowledge policy makers must accommodate. The message is that only good science and well-chosen technologies can direct the way to corrective regulatory measures; but without strong commitment from government, no amount of science or technology can help
Hacia el futuro : energy, economics, and the environment in 21st century Mexico by María Eugenia Ibarrarán( Book )

4 editions published in 2006 in English and held by 108 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The book focuses on the impact of future energy policies on fossil fuel use, environmental quality, and economic growth in Mexico over the next 20 years. The first part examines the growth of the Mexican energy sector and its link to international trade, government revenues, economic welfare, income distribution and environmental pollution. The scientific linkages between greenhouse gas emissions and climate change are presented with the economic theory behind various emission abatement strategies. The authors examine the harmful effects of climate change on economic well being in Mexico and explain the role of Mexico and Latin America in current climate change negotiations. The second part develops a dynamic Computable General Equilibrium model of the Mexican economy, paying attention to the energy sector and its linkages with other aspects of the aggregate economy."--Jacket

Ultraviolet absorption cross sections of HO₂NO₂ vapor by Luisa T Molina( Book )

3 editions published in 1980 in English and held by 12 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The ultraviolet absorption cross sections for gas phase HO2NO2 have been measured between 190 and 330 nm, at 298K and 1 atm total pressure. The HO2NO2 vapor was prepared in a flowing N2 stream in the presence of H2O, H2O2, HNO3, and NO2. The composition of the mixture was established by visible and infrared absorption spectroscopy and by chemical titration after absorption in aqueous solutions. The experimental uncertainty (one standard deviation) ranges from 5% at 200 nm to 30% at 330 nm, and mainly falls in the 10% range. The solar photodissociation rate in the troposphere and lower stratosphere is estimated to be about ten to the -5th power/sec for 0 deg solar zenith angle

This heroic fantasy is set in a world of ominous landscape and macabre menace that is a dark mirror of our own. A spellbinding tale of good versus evil, it features one of Stephen King's most powerful creations--The Gunslinger, a haunting figure who embodies the qualities of the lone hero through the ages from ancient myth to frontier western legend. His pursuit of The Man in Black, his liaison with the sexually ravenous Alice, his friendship with the kid from Earth called Jake, are part of a drama that is both grippingly realistic and eerily dreamlike, an alchemy of storytelling sorcery
