Eden by Tim Smit( Book )

14 editions published between 2001 and 2016 in English and held by 302 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"At the beginning of the twenty-first century, the impossible was delivered. From the sterile depths of a disused china clay pit in Cornwall rose one of the most remarkable and ambitious ventures in recent memory. The Eden Project's Biomes, the world's largest conservatories, are the symbol of a living theatre of plants and people and their interdependence, of regeneration and of a pioneering forum for the exploration of possible futures. Since Edenopened its doors to the world in March 2001, more than 18 million visitors have flocked there and Tim Smit has received a knighthood for delivering his astonishing vision. This is the extraordinary story of the Eden Project, of its conception, design and construction, of the larger-than-life personalities who made it happen. It is the story of how the hope and energy of many men and women transformed a thrilling idea into the breath-taking reality of one of the world's great gardens. But Eden is more: it is and has always been an educational charity - its mission to connect us with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work towards a better future. Eden has projects and partnerships all over the world concerned with rehabilitation, (physical and social), community, eduation, biodiversity, town planning, sustainabe construction, green employment .. and much more" --Publisher's description

The Lost Gardens of Heligan, near Mevagissey in Cornwall, are one of the most popular botanical gardens in the UK. Originally the gardens were part of the estate owned by the Cornish Tremayne family. After the First Wold War, which led to the deaths of 16 out of the 22 gardeners, the gardens fell into a state of neglect until Tim Smit and a group of fellow enthusiasts decided to restore the garden to its former glory
