The letters, from fellow publishers and booksellers, throw light on the nature of publishing in the Age of Enlightenment. Details of joint publishing ventures, production, transport, distribution, and payment are recorded in the letters, as well as details of a more personal nature concerning the correspondents' family life, etc. Among the correspondents are the Parisian booksellers and publishers Nicolas-Bonaventura Duschesne and Pierre Guy, the publisher Elie Luzac, the editor-proofreader De Loches, and the editor-literary agent Voyard de Chenau
