Mathematical foundations of information theory by
A. I︠A︡ Khinchin(
Book
)
5 editions published in 1957 in English and held by 46 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The first comprehensive introduction to information theory, this text explores the work begun by Shannon and continued by McMillan, Feinstein, and Khinchin. Its rigorous treatment addresses the entropy concept in probability theory and fundamental theorems as well as ergodic sources, the martingale concept, anticipation and memory, and other subjects. 1957 edition

Spaces of fundamental and generalized functions by
I. M Gelʹfand(
Book
)
3 editions published between 1968 and 1972 in English and Italian and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Spaces of Fundamental and Generalized Functions, Volume 2, analyzes the general theory of linear topological spaces. The basis of the theory of generalized functions is the theory of the socalled countably normed spaces (with compatible norms), their unions (inductive limits), and also of the spaces conjugate to the countably normed ones or their unions. This set of spaces is sufficiently broad on the one hand, and sufficiently convenient for the analyst on the other. The book opens with a chapter that discusses the theory of these spaces. This is followed by separate chapters on fundamental

Arrangement of fusiform bodies to reduce the wave drag at supersonic speeds by
Morris D Friedman(
Book
)
4 editions published between 1954 and 1955 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Using linearized slenderbody theory and reverseflow theorems, the wave drag of a system of fusiform bodies at zero angle of attack and supersonic speeds is studied to determine the effect of varying the relative location of the component parts. The investigation is limited to twobody and threebody arrangements of SearsHaack minimumdrag bodies. It is found that in certain arrangements the interference effects are beneficial, and may even result in the two or three body system having no more wave drag than that of the principal body alone. The most favorable location appears to be one in which the maximum cross section of the auxiliary body is slightly forward of the Mach cone from the tail of the main body. The least favorable is the region between the Mach cone from the nose and the forecone from the tail of the main body

Theoretical investigation of the supersonic lift and drag of thin, sweptback wings with increased sweep near the root by
Doris Cohen(
Book
)
2 editions published in 1953 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Formulas are derived by the use of linearized theory for the lift and drag due to lift, at supersonic speeds, of thin, flat wings having a discontinuity in the leadingedge sweep, the inboard portion of the leadingedge being very highly swept and the outboard portion less so. Examples are presented to show the effect of the bend in the leading edge on the pressure distribution. The liftcurve slope and drag have ben calculated for several families of wings, all with straight trailing edges. For two typical plan forms, the aerodynamiccenter location has been calculated through a limited range of supersonic Mach numbers
