Publié à l'occasion de l'exposition présentée du 18 octobre 2008 au 1er février 2009 au Musée des Ursulines à Mâcon. L'étude du décor peint inaugure une suite d'expositions (2008 puis 2009) sur une des plus célèbres familles de peintres mâconnais : Victor Bussière (1836-1905) et ses enfants Gaston (1862-1928), Emile (1865-1944), et Marguerite (1875-1961). La première manifestation dont le présent catalogue rend compte aborde la genèse de l'histoire des Bussière, ou comment Victor, s'installant à Mâcon en 1867, reprend la succession de l'entreprise Clair, et devient à son tour un peintre-décorateur pour de nombreux hôtels particuliers et édifices religieux de la région. Elle met en relation des projets décoratifs conçus entre 1867 et 1940 : séries de dessins allant de l'esquisse à la figure grandeur nature pour des églises ou des résidences particulières parisiennes ou de la grande région lyonnaise
