Golden rule by Powderfinger (Musical group)( Recording )

12 editions published between 2008 and 2009 in English and Undetermined and held by 26 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Powderfinger commenced writing in January 2009 and gave themselves a tight deadline in which to come up with the new songs before working once more with friend and producer extraordinaire Nick DiDia (Neil Young, Pearl Jam). After making all of their previous albums far from home they decided this time to record at Studio 301 in Byron Bay, and mix at Studio 301 in Sydney. DiDia has previously worked on the hugely successful Powderfinger albums 'Vulture Street', 'Odyssey Number Five' and 'Internationalist'. Musically, this album is a departure from Powderfinger's signature sound - whilst still maintaining their knack for producing classic rock songs - unusual instrumentation, dramatic angular structures and dissonant strings nestle between harder riffs and experimental harmonies. There is a sense of adventure on this album that is mostly a step in a new direction, but simultaneously a deferent nod to the past

Great Australian albums 2( Visual )

1 edition published in 2008 in English and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Powderfinger released Odyssey #5 in 2000. The Brisbane group had formed in the late 1980s, on the fringe of the alternative rock scene. Powderfinger took their name form a Neil Young song and they replicated Youngs style of classic rock with an edge. The group had no image in the sense that they werent aligned to any particular fashion or tribe. They were modest interview subjects and generally projected an anti-style. For these reasons, little had been expected of the group in their early days and their first album was not a major commercial success. However, their uniquely laid-back Australianness contributed to their future success"--Container
