Threepenny opera by Kurt Weill( Recording )

2 editions published in 1999 in No Linguistic content and Undetermined and held by 122 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Through the love story of Polly Peachum and Mack the Knife Macheath, the play satirizes the bourgeois of the Weimar Republic, revealing a society at the height of decadence and on the verge of chaos. Complemented with music by Kurt Weill, it was one of the earliest and most successful attempts to introduce jazz into the theater, and the song Mack the Knife became one of the most popular and widely recorded songs of the twentieth century

In his latest album, Daniel Hope shines a new light on Hollywood scores as he takes a widescreen musical journey, seeking out the echoes of exiled European composers, such as Miklos R©đzsa, John Waxman, Hanns Eisler, Erich Wolfgang Korngold. The centerpiece is the famous violin concerto by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. The album also contains contemporary soundtrack classics such as Schindler℗þs List, American Beauty and Cinema Paradiso to reflect on the strong musical influence the Exile composer had and still has on contemporary film composers
Golden age by Max Raabe( Recording )

4 editions published between 2013 and 2014 in 3 languages and held by 57 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

By the early 1920s, the influence of American jazz was apparent all over Europe. Musicians wore out the latest imported 78s as they picked up the new language, then went on to absorb what they had heard into their own ways of playing. That in turn gave birth to new styles that soon attracted audiences back in the US. And when Jewish musicians -- not least Kurt Weill -- began fleeing the Nazis in the 1930s, America was often where they ended up, already wise to the requirements of Hollywood and Broadway. In this collection of the band's favorite numbers, many of the songs are American standards, which Max Raabe and his Palast Orchester present in their unique 1920s/30s German style. Max Raabe & Palast Orchester are famous for keeping the shellac style alive. Here they give us an idea of what might have developed without the Nazi suppression of so much German culture. A glimpse, perhaps, of a lost "Golden Age"

Die Dreigroschenoper The threepenny opera = L'opéra de quat'sous by Kurt Weill( Recording )

14 editions published in 1999 in 3 languages and held by 50 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Reconstructed in the 1960s, years after the original negative was destroyed by the Nazis, G.W. Pabst's Threepenny Opera remains a deliciously dark film adaptation of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's brilliant musical

Küssen kann man nicht alleine by Max Raabe( Recording )

12 editions published between 2011 and 2014 in Undetermined and German and held by 30 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The inimitable Max Raabe invites his fans and growing audience around the globe for a very special night in Berlin. Max presents a gorgeous selection of greatest hits from his last gold- and platinum-selling albums in new arrangements for the Palast Orchester. This very special concert was recorded live at Admiralspalast in Berlin, a perfect setting which lives and breathes the flair and panache of Berlin during the 20s and early 30s. Max has become an iconic German celebrity, he combines pop-star appeal with nostalgic flair, a good dose of self-irony and dry comic features but mainly heart-warming and very charming songs, in German and English
