Summary: Based on a short story by Ambrose Bierce, this film tells of an incident during the American Civil War. A civilian has been condemned to death for suspected sabotage and stands poised on a plank high above a river, a rope around his neck. The order for the execution is given, but the rope breaks and he falls into the water, enabling him to make a desperate attempt to escape. Against all odds he apparently reaches his wife and home.... or does he? In the United States the film was released under the title of the original short story, Àn occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge' and in Great Britain it is known as Ìncident at Owl Creek'.
