Moliere is a down-and-out actor and playwright who is up to his ears in debt. The wealthy Jourdain offers to cover that debt so that Molière's theatrical talents might help Jourdain win the heart of a certain widowed marquise. Disguised as a priest, Molière becomes a guest in Jourdain's palace on the subtext of teaching Jourdain the craft of the stage, all this to the annoyance of Jourdain's wife, Elmire. But, soon after, the confrontation between Elmire and Molière turns seductive. Jourdain enlists the aid of a well-connected and scheming acquaintance to help him pursue the widowed marquise
Poulet aux prunes = Chicken with plums by Marjane Satrapi( Visual )

22 editions published between 2011 and 2013 in 4 languages and held by 599 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

For their lovely, yet tragic film, graphic artists Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud reunite for a second story drawn from Satrapi's family's rich history. Instead of an animated feature, like Persepolis, they turn to live action. In pre-revolutionary Tehran, Nasser-Ali Khan (Mathieu Amalric) comes across as a curmudgeon who cares more about his career than his family, but there's more to the musician than meets the eye. With his son's help, he sets out to replace his broken violin, leading to adventures with a mysterious woman (Golshifteh Farahani) and a magical merchant (Jamel Debbouze, delightful), but when no suitable replacement materializes, Nasser announces his plan to pack it in. As he lies in bed, waiting to die, he reflects on incidents involving a judgmental clockmaker (Serge Avedikian) and his headstrong mother (Isabella Rossellini). Then, he meets the Angel of Death (narrator Edouard Baer), who gives him a glance at the fates that await his loved ones, much as in A Christmas Carol (Chiara Mastroianni plays his adult daughter). Meanwhile, his wife (Maria de Medeiros) plies him with delicacies, like chicken with plums, but he insists that death is the only solution, which makes this sound like a grim affair, except Satrapi and Paronnaud find the humor in the scenario and the beauty in the milieu, combining stylized sets and hand-drawn backdrops. Much as with Sean Penn's guitarist in Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown, Amalric never strives to make Nasser-Ali likable, but he succeeds in making this stubborn man understandable. --Kathleen C.
