Conducting Electronic Polymers by Non-Redox Processes( Book )

6 editions published between 1987 and 1988 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The chemical composition and the IR spectra of both the New and ARA undoped forms of BASF (CH)x either oriented, or non-oriented have been examined. Even after extensive washing (up to 5 days) and/or after treatment with CH3OH/HC1, relatively large amounts (up to approx 5%) of Titanium, ALuminum and Silicon residues remain in the film. This is consistent with their infrared spectra, which show strong vibrations characteristic of sp3-hybridized carbon believed to be associated primarily with the Ti(n-OBu)4 catalyst. The conductivity of the I2/CC14-doped films varies greatly from one portion of a film to another. For example, a non-oriented doped ARA film (elemental analysis: Residue approx. 4.6%; exhibited (sigma 15 determinations) a sigma (max) approx 8100, sigma (min) 500, sigma (av) 940, sigma (median) 880S/cm. Strongly-adhering, transparent, cohesive films (approx. 0.1 microm) of polyaniline (emeraldine. HC1) and also its N-substituted derivatives can be deposited on a variety of substrates such as gass, nylon, metals, AgC1 pellets, etc. from aqueous solutions of the corresponding anilines, HC1 and (NH4)02S2O8 during the initial stages of polymerization. Synthetic metals by Alan G MacDiarmid( Recording )

3 editions published between 1976 and 1977 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Dr. MacDiarmid discusses the prospects and challenges of developing new synthetic metals. He describes how such metals are formed and examines their properties, focusing on polymeric sulfur nitride in which the fibers are parallel and conduct electricity better along the fibers than across them. Dr. Vannice points out various products created by the use of catalysts including gas, heating oil, rubber, plastics, etc. and emphasizes how energy could be conserved if catalysts are used to make processes more efficient. Focuses on the use of catalysts to convert coal to other types of energy and gives various problems of using catalysts such as product selectibility and the deactivation that can result from too high temperature

The polyanilines : a novel class of conducting polymers by Alan G MacDiarmid( Book )

3 editions published between 1991 and 1996 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The conductivity (doped form), degree of crystallinity, tensile strength and solubility of polyaniline (emeraldine oxidation state) is found to be greatly dependent on the past chemical and/or mechanical history of the polymer which significantly affects the ultra-structure of the material. The conductivity of the polymer increases monotonically with increase in molecular weight up to a value of 160,000 (G.P.C.;Mp) after which it is essentially constant. A new form of polyaniline (polyaniline gel) which shows an anisotropic shape-memory effect under certain conditions when swelled in solvents in which it is insoluble, has been synthesized. Pernigraniline, the most highly oxidized form of polyaniline has been n-poled to give a material of conductivity 0.5 S/cm. Doping (and undoping) occurs without degradation of the polymer backbone. A study of Donnan equilibrium effects on the protonic acid doping of polyaniline (emeraldine base) shows that the doping level depends noy only on the pH of the aqueous dopant medium but also on the presence of dissolved neutral salts

New Approach to Color Variable Light-Emitting Devices Based on Conjugated Polymers( )

4 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

We report the fabrication of light-emitting devices based on several pyridine-containing conjugated polymers and copolymers in various device configurations. The high electron affinity of pyridine based polymers enables the use of relatively stable metals such as Al or even ITO as electron injecting contacts. Taking advantages of the better electron transport properties of the pyridine-containing polymers, we fabricate bilayer devices utilizing poly(9-vinyl carbazole) (PVK) as hole transporting/electron blocking polymer, which improves the device efficiency and brightness significantly due to the charge confinement and exciplex emission at the PVK/emitting polymer interface. The incorporation of conducting polyaniline network electrode to PVK reduces the device turn on voltage significantly while maintaining the high efficiency. The control of the aggregate formation in the polymer films by blending with insulating host polymers opens up the possibility of making voltage-controlled multi-color light-emitting devices
Inorganic Syntheses 1-7 by Alan G MacDiarmid( )

1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The volumes in this continuing series provide a compilation of current techniques and ideas in inorganic synthetic chemistry. Includes inorganic polymer syntheses and preparation of important inorganic solids, syntheses used in the development of pharmacologically active inorganic compounds, small-molecule coordination complexes, and related compounds. Also contains valuable information on transition organometallic compounds including species with metal-metal cluster molecules. All syntheses presented here have been tested
