1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The volumes in this continuing series provide a compilation of current techniques and ideas in inorganic synthetic chemistry. Includes inorganic polymer syntheses and preparation of important inorganic solids, syntheses used in the development of pharmacologically active inorganic compounds, small-molecule coordination complexes, and related compounds. Also contains valuable information on transition organometallic compounds including species with metal-metal cluster molecules. All syntheses presented here have been tested

Conducting Electronic Polymers by Non-Redox Processes ( Book )
6 editions published between 1987 and 1988 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Defects involving sp3 hybridized carbon atoms in the form of (HCD) units have been controllably introduced into trans-(CH)x by chemical methods to produce polymers of the type trans0(CHDy)x, i.e., ((CH)1-y-(HCD)y)x (y=0, 0.15 and 0.17), in order to study the nature of these defects and their effect on the electronic and magnetic properties of trans-(CH)x. The effects of these defects on the electrochemical reduction (n-doping) of trans-(CHDy)x up to 4.0 mol % reduction levels have been studied. New -(CH)x and ARA (i.e. Additional reducing Agent)-(CH)x have been synthesized at room temperature. New -(CH)x is formed by polymerizing acetylene on flat polymeric or glass substrated using an A1Et3/Ti(n-BuO)4 catalyst in silicone oil which has previously been heat-treated. Additional reducing agents may be added to the catalyst after its thermal treatment to produce ARA -(CH)x. 15N NMR spectroscopy has been utilized as a structural probe for the leuco- and emeraldine base forms of polyaniline. Preliminary results suggests that the emeraldine base polymer exists as an alternating copolymer of oxidized and reduced units. End-groups are not detected at the experimental level of sensitivity. Synthetic metals by Alan G MacDiarmid( Recording )
3 editions published between 1976 and 1977 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Dr. MacDiarmid discusses the prospects and challenges of developing new synthetic metals. He describes how such metals are formed and examines their properties, focusing on polymeric sulfur nitride in which the fibers are parallel and conduct electricity better along the fibers than across them

Organic Metals and Semiconductors: Polyacetylene, (CH)x, and Its Derivatives ( Book )
3 editions published in 1979 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Polyacetylene, (CH)x, is the simplest possible conjugated organic polymer and is therefore of special fundamental interest. In a series of studies, Shirakawa and Ikeda have shown that it can be prepared in the form of lustrous, silvery, flexible, polycrystalline films having any desired cis/trans content by catalytic polymerization of gaseous acetylene, C2H2. The cis-rich films can be stretched easily at room temperature in excess of three times their original length with concomitant partial alignment of the (CH)x fibrils. Dark red gels of toluene in (CH)x may be prepared using a lower catalyst concentration. Highly porous, very low density, 'foam-like' (CH)x can be obtained from these gels. Both cis- and trans-(CH)x are p-type semiconductors which can be treated with a variety of p- or n-type dopants with concomitant increase in conductivity to give a series of semiconductors and ultimately, 'organic metals.' This report will be directed primarily towards f description of the more chemically oriented aspects of (CH)x and its derivatives. (Author)
