This CD-ROM contains the complete set of the Ethnographic Summary Reports prepared by the Repatriation Office at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, in response to the repatriation provisions of the National Museum of the American Indian Act of 1989. A total of 171 reports were issued to notify all Native American tribes and Native Hawaiian groups about the cultural identifications of the approximately 60,000 ofjects held in the Ethnology Division of the Department of Anthropology. The cultural identifications of the objects in these reports are derived from readily available NMNH catalog records, which have not been systematically evaluated for accuracy and reliability
