Jonah becomes the host of a radio telephone call-in show for the night, known as a "talkback host" in New Zealand, when her sometime lover Roger, the show's regular host, (for whom she screens callers) abruptly walks out of the studio. His hasty exit is a mystery to both Jonah and the show's regular listeners. Their curiosity if fueled when a caller reveals that Roger's wife is in labor.
