Foster parents in the Tacoma area serving foster children who are overweight or obese are in need of and would benefit from a training manual to assist children. There are many issues surrounding children in the foster care system, one vital issue, is an increase in the level of obestiy. Some factors, which lead to obesity in foster care, include physical, mental, eating disorders, separations issues, abuse and neglect, emotional and medically, as well as a lack of participating in school. Developing a training manual containing a variety of topics would be helpful. Topics include nutrition education, healthy recipes, fitness education, community programs designed for children and foster care programs to support the foster children and parents. This manual would benefit foster parents, foster children, caseworkers, and community members to promote a healthier lifestyle
