Children of Iraq the photographs of Olive Pierce( Visual )

1 edition published in 2002 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

"In 1999, at the age of 73, photographer Olive Pierce traveled to Iraq with Voices in the Wilderness to take pictures of Iraqi children. Disturbed by America's lack of concern for the devastation being caused to the Iraqi people--especially the children--by the sanctions imposed after the Gulf War, she hoped that her photographs might raise awareness. Pierce did not take pictures of suffering. Rather, she chose to portray the humanity of Iraqi children in common with all of the world's children, particularly those at the mercy of forces far larger than themselves."--Container
Under the rose by Rahim AlHaj( Recording )

1 edition published in 2009 and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

"The deep and soulful sound of Spanish flamenco is rooted in a unique series of historical events and cultural overlaps that stretch across centuries, reaching from India to the New World, none more important than the Moorish conquest of the Iberian Peninsula in the eighth century. ... [In this album, Rahim] AlHaj combines with the world-renowned guitarist Ottmar Liebert to unite the ancestral Iraqi tradition with modern flamenco, celebrating and exploring the family connections."--
