Sylvia from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden ( Visual )

"From Darcey Bussell's backward-leaping fish-dives to the beautiful rendering of Léo Delibes' score by the Covent Garden orchestra, this revival of Frederick Ashton's Sylvia (itself a re-versioning of the 1876 original) summons all the majesty of Britain's royal ballet tradition. Given Bussell's retirement in 2007 and the fact that productions of Sylvia have been few and far between, viewers will find here a singular opportunity to appreciate virtually unparalleled dancing talent manifested in a rarely seen, highly demanding role. Thiago Soares and Roberto Bolle also display their diverse abilities in this recording of Christopher Newton's impeccable realization"--Container
