Air pollution by Reid A Bryson( Book )

7 editions published in 1968 in English and held by 245 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

These Resource Papers have been developed as expository documents for the use of both the student and the instructor in undergraduate college geography courses at the introductory and advanced level. They are designed to supplement existing texts and to fill a gap between significant research in American geography and readily accessible materials. The papers are concerned with concepts or topics in modern geography and focus on one of three general themes: geography theory; policy implications; or contemporary social relevance. The papers are introduced by a section entitled "Sewers in the Sky," followed by sections on: the location of air pollution; mechanisms of air pollution production, concentration, spread and removal; and the significance of air pollution with respect to health, esthetics, economics and global climate. A summary, a listing of references cited, and additional bibliographic material conclude these papers. (Bt)

A higher order theory for deep water waves by Peter L Monkmeyer( Book )

3 editions published in 1966 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The classical problem of describing the characteristics of deep water waves of finite amplitude is considered. The method of analysis initially follows that of Nekrasov, but differs in that a non-linear algebraic equation is derived. This equation is solved to the third, fifth and fifteenth order by means of a digital computer and the data is presented in tabular form. Expressions for the wave speed and wave shape, predicted by the analysis, are compared with the results obtained by Stokes. The highest wave in water is also discussed. (Author)

Reconstruction of Past Climatic Proxy Series( Book )

2 editions published in 1975 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Reconstruction of past climates from pollen data, tree-ring data and historical data is described. The pollen-climate relationships cover the past 10,000 years and deal with North America and portions of Eurasia. Detailed climatic information from 1000-year records of annually laminated lake sediments and tree-ring records in central North America (Great Lakes area) is also described
