The Governor of Ohio sought extradition of five Virginians, who kidnapped and took to Virginia, three Ohio citizens, who abetted the escape of slaves from Virginia. This was so they could be tried in Ohio. Gov. James McDowell of Virginia warns that "kindly" relations between Ohio and Virginia depend upon respect for the consitutional and legal rights of people of Virginia and their slaves. This is not a separate imprint but forms a part of the 1846 Executive communications volume (Ohio) according to the Morgan Bibliography of Ohio Imprints, 1796-1850, entry no. 8688
