St. Vrain writes as an heir of his father's estate about claims to the Las Animas land grant in New Mexico. St. Vrain provides a history of ownership of the property and asks Mercur for "authority to institute suit against the United States...for a full and final hearing, and adjudication of their titles, and their rights, to said property."
