Pünktchen und Anton ein Film nach dem gleichnamigen Roman und Theaterstück von Erich Kästner by Caroline Link( Visual )

5 editions published between 1991 and 2006 in German and Undetermined and held by 76 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Once upon a time there was a little girl who was rich but unhappy. Her parents cared more about earning and spening money than about their daughter. And there was also a little boy, and he was poor but happy. Although his mother had to work hard to earn a living for them both, she had plenty of time and love to share with her son. Fairy tales often begin this way, but Erich Kästner makes this romantic scenario the backdrop for a modern story about a friendship that transcends class boundaries. Although the two children are quick to jump to one another's assistance, Pünktchen, the sassy little lady, learns of the gross injustices in society. Her empathy with the underprivileged leads to her dressing as a little match girl, purveying her wares to wealthy passersby. So, the end of the film also resembles a fairy-tale

Mädchen in Uniform by Leontine Sagan( Visual )

In this melodrama set in the early Victorian period, a singer takes the blame for her upper class lover when he forges a cheque, and is transported from England to Parramatta women's prison. It is an unusual combination of elements. Sirk, who had directed 'The Threepenny Opera' on the stage, here combines drama with songs and music, social criticism (the hypocrisy of the upper classes) with some Brechtian devices while accommodating with a characteristic visual flair, the producer's imperative to provide a starring vehicle for Zarah Leander

The other, Lotte Körner, is more reserved and usually wears her hair in plaits. She comes from Munich. The initial dismay, which turns to fury in Luise's case, gives way to a tender friendship, in the course of which the children realize that they must be twins. From this point on they tirelessly yet vainly attempt to lift the cloak of mystery from their lives. Luise's lust for adventure and, more so, the girls' boundless yearning for the half of their world they have as yet been deprived of, result in a scheme which is as obvious as it is daring
