La loro relazione però non viene ben vista dal padre della ragazza, che è intanto diventato sempre più impopolare nella scuola per aver installato delle telecamere di sorveglianza. Tra Charlie e Nathan c'è uno scontro sempre più aperto. Entrambi però devono convivere con i loro demoni, il ragazzo con il fatto che il padre che è in carcere per evasione fiscale, l'uomo con l'alcolismo. E in un momento di disperazione per Nathan, sarà proprio Charlie ad aiutarlo e a riavvicinarlo alla figlia
