Annika Von Hausswolff : it all ends with a new beginning by Annika von Hausswolff( Book )

3 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 24 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This spring, ARoS will be staging the most extensive exhibition to date with works by the Swedish artist, Annika von Hausswolff (b. 1967). The exhibition is staged in close collaboration with the artist. In addition to works dating from the 1990s until today, the exhibition also includes a completely new and site-specific work which Hausswolff has created especially for ARoS. On seeing Annika von Hausswolff's motifs of drawn blinds, empty living rooms with sinister objects, children with chain saws, and naked bodies in the forest, we encounter a world which, all at once, seems both familiar and strange. We enter a parallel world where objects exude presence while people appear absent.0Exhibition: ARoS, Aarhus, Denmark (26.4.-11.8.2013)

Cindy Sherman : untitled horrors by Cindy Sherman( Book )

2 editions published in 2013 in German and English and held by 13 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"An in-depth look at the disturbing and abject sides of the American photo artist's oeuvre. Throughout her career, Cindy Sherman (*1954 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey) has been interested in the derailed and deviant sides of human nature, noticeable both in her selection of subject matter (fairytales, disasters, sex, horror, and surrealism) and in her disquieting interpretations of well-established photographic genres, such as film stills, fashion photography, and society portraiture. This richly illustrated publication seeks to highlight and acknowledge these aspects of her work based on selected examples and accompanied by texts by well-known authors, filmmakers, and artists who likewise deal with the grotesque, the uncanny, and the extraordinary in their artistic practice."--Publisher's website
Escuela de suenos : anexo a una teoría sexual by Sara Stridsberg( Book )

2 editions published in 2010 in Spanish and held by 13 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

SCUM manifesto by Valerie Solanas( Book )

2 editions published between 2003 and 2010 in Swedish and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"SCUM Manifesto was considered one of the most outrageous, violent, and certifiably crazy tracts when it first appeared in 1968. Valerie Solanas, the woman who shot Andy Warhol, self-published this work just before her rampage against the king of Pop Art made her a household name and resulted in her confinement to a mental institution. But the Manifesto, for all its vitriol, is impossible to dismiss as just the rantings of a lesbian lunatic. In fact, the work has prescience, not only as a radical feminist analysis light-years ahead of its time - predicting artificial insemination, ATMs, a feminist uprising against under-representation in the arts - but also as a testament to the rage of an abused and destitute woman." "The focus of this edition, however, is not on the nostalgic appeal of SCUM. Rather, Avital Ronell reconsiders Solanas's infamous text in light of the social milieu in which it was written, and reinterprets its status as a cult classic. Ronell writes, "Maybe the Solanas tract was payback: it was clocked to strike the time of response to all shameless woman-hating manifestos and their counterparts, the universalizers." She conjures Derrida's "The Ends of Man" (written in the same year), Judith Butler's Excitable Speech, Nietzsche's Ubermensch, and notorious feminist icons from Medusa, Medea, and Antigone, to Lizzie Borden, Lorenna Bobbitt, and Aileen Wournos, illuminating the evocative exuberance of Solana's dark tract."--Jacket
