Daniil Trifonov started to play the piano at the age of five, not because he wanted to play the piano but because he wanted to compose. The films contain a number of performances shot live on stage with cameras unusually close to the artist, which adds considerably to the power of the images. They also present Trifonov in conversations which demonstrate his earnestness, his exceptional modesty, and his gloriously high intelligence. In the portrait film he plays music by Chopin, Ravel, and Trifonov himself, part of his first piano concerto, filmed at the world premiere performance at the Cleveland Institue in April 2014. In the performance film he plays music by Chopin (Prelude, op. 28, no. 20 and Etude, op. 10, no. 8 in F major), Scriabin (Etude op. 42, no. 5 in C sharp minor), Rachmaninov (Variations on a theme of Chopin, op. 22), and Johann Strauss (Overture to Die Fledermaus, arranged by Trifonov)

For the 2015 edition of the Verbier Festival, the best Russian performers are alongside the Verbier Festival Orchestra to perform works by Mozart and Tchaikovsky. A prestigious cast is reunited on stage at the Salle des Combins in Verbier: Valery Gergiev, one of the most prominent figures in the classical music world; and two generations of pianists that are well-renowned: Denis Matsuev and Daniil Trifonov -- the 2011 Grand Prix at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition. This performance is extra-special as Valery Gergiev will also play the piano. Indeed, all three musicians join forces to perfom Mozart's Concerto for three pianos and orchestra. To close the concert, Valery Gergiev conducts Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, one of the most famous works by the Russian composer, which was a posthumous triumph

The young Russian prodigy Daniil Trifonov performs in a 100% Chopin program, featuring solo pieces and some accompanied by an orchestra! Revealed in 2011 by the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, where he was awarded the first prize by Valery Gergiev in person, Daniil Trifonov has become one of the most sought-after pianists of his generation. The two appearances he made at the 2012 Verbier Festival -- his debuts at this prestigious event -- have taken the musical world by storm. medici.tv lets you discover those two concerts gathered in one program, which displays the Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 and some Etudes by the same composer. You'll then have the keys to understand better the word of Martha Argerich, who once said about the young Trifonov that "he has everything and more" (Interview to the Financial Times on July 8th 2011). Daniil Trifonov's concerts were broadcast live on medici.tv on July 28 and 31, 2012
Daniil Trifonov on camera (unreleased) : the magics of music( Visual )

1 edition published in 2015 in English and held by 10 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Christopher Nupen's film The Magics of Music offers an intimate portrait of young piano star Daniil Trifonov both on and off the stage. Watch this unreleased version of the film, edited specifically for medici.tv! These hands make magic. A magic which we cannot explain but which can touch us in ways which we do not forget and once that happens, our response calls us back for the rest of our days. That is just one of the magics of music. It is multi-faceted, multi-coloured and always different - in every different pair of hands. These are the hands of Daniil Trifonov, an artist whom nature has endowed with the most prodigious gifts. A maker of magic, in his search for beauty. Daniil Trifonov on Camera, The Magics of Music is a film by Christopher Nupen. The original version, published in DVD by Allegro Films, won two international prizes (the Silver Medal at the New York Film and Television Festival and the Accolade Award), and won this year's ICMA DVD of the Year Award (the International Classical Music Awards is the top award for classical music DVDs). The film shown here is an unreleased version of the film made specifically for medici.tv, with new editing. As Christopher Nupen's voice guides us through the pianist's life, the film features interviews of Trifonov himself and an interview of his famous professor, esteemed pianist Sergei Babayan. Babayan relates an incident where he advised his student against looking too much down at the keys when playing, urging his student to practice in the dark as if he were blind. Trifonov practised for hours, until the technique was fully mastered. Indeed, he was always eager to learn and improve. For Babayan, his student-teacher relationship with Trifonov is unique. The film offers an intimate portrait of Daniil Trifonov of whom Martha Argerich said: "What he does with his hands is technically incredible -- and then there is his touch -- so gifted with tenderness and, at the same time, he has the demonic element. I have never heard anything like this before." Since winning the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011, Trifonov has travelled the world as recitalist and concerto soloist. However, in this movie, he takes the time to sit down and revisit the beginning of his exceptional career. Where did it all begin? He was born in 1991 in Nizhny Novgorod, and his urge to compose had surfaced by the age of five ... He talks about his very own understanding of magic in music. No doubt, Daniil Trifonov is some kind of a magician
Daniil Trifonov plays Scriabin, Liszt, Chopin and Trifonov : Verbier Festival 2013( Visual )

1 edition published in 2013 and held by 10 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The young Russian virtuoso Daniil Trifonov performs works by Scriabin, Liszt and Chopin during a recital at the Verbier Festival in 2013. Broadcast live on medici.tv on July 28, 2013, this recital is based upon an original program which gathers three pieces composed during or in souvenir of a love story. These three works by Scriabin, Liszt and Chopin bear all indeed the mark of an important woman in the composers' life: Natalya Sekerina, the dedicatee of Scriabin's Sonata Fantasy No. 2; the Polish-Russian princess Carolyne de Sayn-Wittgenstein, with whom Liszt shared his life during the composition of his Sonata in B Minor; and the French writer George Sand, Chopin's lover whom he was with when he composed his 24 Preludes in Mallorca. To conclude his recital, Daniil Trifonov performs one of his own scores, Rachmaniana. A genuine virtuoso, Daniil Trifonov has been widely acclaimed by the press and the audience alike, and has won many international competitions, including the Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv and the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. This memorable recital took place during the 20th anniversary edition of the Verbier Festival in 2013
Antonín Dvořák in Verbier( Visual )

1 edition published in 2014 and held by 10 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An exceptional night with a myriad of great musicians, performing chamber music together! Every summer, the Verbier Festival gathers artists of international fame and the rising stars of their instruments. This concert is a perfect example of this tradition: the Verbier Festival invites here Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Yuri Bashmet, Vilde Frang and Daniil Trifonov to perform Dvorak's quintet for piano and strings. Absolute symbol of the Slavic soul, Dvorák approaches a style where the popular influences and folk outlines of his phrases express a particular music. In the Central Europe and in the Czech country, where folk songs are the expression of a social struggle against the oppression, the work of Dvorák resonates strongly between popular music and classical music
